I have worked for St Vincent’s Private Hospital for three and a half years. My current position is Nurse Unit Manager, Paediatrics.
I have always had a passion for working with children and families from an early age and the sole reason I became a nurse was to eventually work within the paediatrics field.
Nursing children is a challenging role but also a very rewarding one. You can learn a lot from a child and they are able to teach me something everyday.
I wouldn’t change my job for anything. Of course, there are times when working as a paediatric nurse means you are working in a sad profession, however a child can always bring a smile to your face.
I did not get into this role because I loved children, rather, I became a paediatric nurse because I wanted to help families and I have a passion for caring for children and their total wellbeing.
Before joining St Vincent’s Private I worked for Monash Medical Centre, where I was an educator for three years and worked on I worked on a paediatric medical ward for the other six years. I have spent a year working in London, where I had the opportunity to work in some of London’s largest children hospitals, including Great Ormond Street. I have completed my post graduate in Paediatrics and then went on and completed my Master of Nursing.
