One of the most wonderful things we do every single day at St Vincent’s Private is to say hello to new arrivals in our maternity ward. A new baby is a time of celebration, not just for the new parents and their families, but for all of us. It is always a privilege for us to share such a precious occasion with every new baby.

With changes in the private health insurance market and obstetric rebates over the past few years, some parents have found the decision to choose private obstetric care harder than previously. Yet even with these changes, we have delivered more babies than we expected for the financial year.  I am thrilled to share that we exceeded our planned birth numbers for the past financial year

Our patients have shared with us a variety of reasons why they chose to birth with us, from the onsite ICU and highly rated Special Care Nursery they know they have the best levels of medical care available. Added to this are the many little things we think of, a pregnancy journal, milestone cards, meeting the midwife prior to delivery, postnatal care, maternity physios and a breast feeding clinic provided free of charge are on the list of things patients enjoy.

While we celebrate multiple times each day when a baby arrives, we also held a celebratory afternoon tea on Wednesday to acknowledge our obstetricians who place their trust in us, our midwives and staff for ongoing dedication to providing outstanding maternity care.

We expect to be saying hello to a few thousand more bundles of joy in the coming year.
